…later

mondaygoneyetI never renege on a promise…

Well, mostly never.

The plants got watered, I had Nap-fu practice and the washing is in.

I went shopping and bought a thyme plant which is now growing alongside my sage. The shop was out of short-grained rice for sushi, I have to go back on Friday. Lunch wasn’t anything to write home about, the best thing was two handles of beer.

Home and another Nap-fu.

I got a surprise. The techy-type bloke informed me that my LCD screen was ready and functioning. I was out the door and round to his place in a flash. Turned out it was the in-line transformer had burnt out. R$30 for the part.

So, I am gazing at my 17″er again. So different. It’s like when the first cinerama theatres opened, you need to move your head from left to right to get the whole picture.

The elections here are over. Marina made a dramatic decline towards the end and was beaten by Aércio Neves, who will run off against the incumbent blonde bimbo on the 26th. Which means we’ve got another three weeks of political crap on TV every night.

The brain's GPS is located in the frontal lobe

The brain’s GPS is located in the frontal lobe

Turns out the brain does have a GPS. No wonder I do a left turn when I pass the botequim… The Nobel Prize for medicine was awarded to three scientists who discovered it.

Turns out that Twitter doesn’t have a brain; something I have suspected for a long time. I got three suggestions to follow today. All SEO types. All rejected without thinking.

Ebola is in the news again. First case contracted outside of the African continent; in Spain.

Another angle on the virus, we are reaping what we have sown. The cause, deforestation is destroying the habitats of virus carrying fruit bats driving them closer to urban areas. All the countries involved have sold their timber to foreign logging companies; who are literally raping the land. So once again, man is the author of his own misfortune.

The Latvian election managed to keep the Russian threat at bay.

The current problem of many European Muslims heading off to the Middle East to join IS has been identified as a rebelling against laws that ban traditional Muslim dress, veils and the like. Muslims are saying that their religious rights are being eroded. I put the ball in the court, when in Rome do as the Romans do. If you don’t like it, stay home.

A report saying that Septic Blathermouth of FIFA must go to restore credibility. I agree. FIFA needs new blood.

The TV news has started, I’m off.

Chain Reaction

Yesterday, I left you as I was about to prepare lunch at 4pm.

Now in order to do that, I had to wash the dishes from Sunday’s BBQ.

That’s about where the laws of physics took over.

DishesChainReaction

Chain reaction

No sooner than I had started the dishes, running water, etc, I had the urgent need to pee.

What is with running water and the need to pee? Do women need to tinkle before doing the dishes?

Eventually, I got my beef curry on rice.

wrackingmybrainHaving got that off my chest. I have another problem. What to write about…

Since yesterday, nothing really exciting has happened in my world. The botequim opened after my lunch, in good time to quench my after-curry thirst.

I was in much agony yesterday, I had a crook back, couldn’t move far, nor fast. That lasted until I went to bed. Woke up this morning, all better.

CeleryButtI planted my celery butt.

I could hardly stand the excitement.

It’s already growing little celeries, so I should soon have celery on call when I need it.

It’s so wasteful at the supermarket when you just need a few stalks but you have to buy a whole plant.

Twitter, dumb stupid Twitter, sent me another list of people to follow. SEO, Marketing Director, Marketing Muse… DELETE!

Google is in the poo again in Europe and unfair advertising. Honestly, Google is too big, too biased, it should be disbanded; or banned from the internet until it stops being such a shit site.

internetleakingI read yesterday that the internet is leaking.

Personal data stores found leaking online

“Thousands of Britons could be inadvertently sharing their digital secrets with anyone who knows where to click, suggests a BBC investigation.

At risk are photographs, home videos and music collections as well as scans of documents such as passports, tax forms and other sources of personal data. In some cases, back-up files are being made available that, if downloaded and restored, could let attackers take over a victim’s online life.

Security firms suggest that attackers have already found out about this easy-to-access source of saleable data and are starting to actively seek it out and share it.”BBC News, link above.

Rather disquietening.

Apparently, it’s not just leaking clouds, but your PC is leaking data too.

It seems as though nothing is safe  from prying eyes anymore.

My piece yesterday about the prostrate surgery of Iran’s supreme leader, prompted a comment that “maybe the Americans had a finger in this…” Then I thought, yes, the American government do have a finger in most unsavoury activity around the world, just like a proctologist.

Another still sunny day, I have wtered my drooping plants. Apparently this weather will continue until Friday, with each day getting progressively hotter than today’s expected high of 32ºC. Not bad, considering we are officially still in winter.

This post was brought to you with oodles of coffee, many cigarettes and not a fart joke insight.

I’ll fix that right now!

A Poop in the Corner

Yes, she hid under the kitchen sink where I couldn’t reach her and she pooped in the corner… The broom wasn’t handy, so she got away with it. The broom is now parked in the kitchen.

Steak N EggsSteak ‘n eggs for breakfast. I was sorely tempted to open a bottle of wine to complete the debauchery, but I resisted, I fought with myself internally and opted for sparkling mineral water and ice.

It was more of a brunch really. I woke hungry from my nap at 11am.

After lunch I watered the plants, they were doing a great impression of dying. Well, not actually ‘dying’ but doing a distinct wilt.

tbirdI had to shut down and do a CHKDSK, something had crashed in my Thunderbird email client and I couldn’t delete mails.

Things were a bit sluggish too, and it fixed that.

So I killed a bird and a slug with one stone.

With all the crap about Brazil not being prepared for the FIFA World Cup, it looks like it’s going to be the same for the Olympic games. Just two years away and some venues haven’t even been started.

Scandal: Tamiflu, the wonder flu drug, appears to be no more effective than Paracetamol. And, the Brits have spent a cool £473m on stockpiling the stuff. Who’s been conned then?

The news is full of Pistorius this, Pistorius that. I heartily sick of Pistorius, I don’t give a damn, tell us when they find him guilty or not. I don’t want to know every sordid detail. It’s boring.

God is angry at the Australians for culling sharks. He’s sent a typhoon to punish them on Friday night and ruin the weekend.

The hunters of MH370 have another beep. So they are narrowing down the search area. Makes it more likely that they’ll find their flight recorder and find out what happened to the flight.

It’s another nice sunny autumn day out there, makes one think that they should be out there enjoying it. The beer truck has been, so I know that the botequim has beer; now there’s a thought.

Here’s a thought for the day…

Caution

coffee-beautifulBrain explosion/implosion imminent!

Not sure which.

I’ve been awake for nearly two hours, I’ve drunk two coffees, brain does not want to function.

I have managed to post on five blogs (God alone knows how).

If it wasn’t for the laundry lady being here, I would seriously consider a nap was in order; just wait until she’s gone.

Last night I was watching the wrong TV channel, while I figured that out a movie started.

Avatar, I had never seen and partly because of the hype when the movie was released, I wasn’t particularly interested in seeing. I find that many movies given the ‘Hollywood bullshit’ treatment are crap.

Neytiri_ProfilbildBut my interest piqued, and I ended up sacrificing my news on the correct channel to see the first 45 minutes. I became fascinated by the blue aliens with pointy Spock-like ears.

My interest grew and I switched over to watch at each ad break during the novela (soap opera) on the correct channel. When that finished, I watched the rest of the movie.

Really, the movie is a sad indictment on humanity at the same time it was myth-making adventure to save a foreign species, in that the hero became a god-like leader to his adopted people.

I am now tempted to d/load the movie to catch the missing bits.

I guess it’s because I had a later night than usual that I am tired today.

afghancricketOne usually associates the game of cricket with England, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan and South Africa. One country that does not spring to mind is Afghanistan.

But you have to remember that Britain was there too, and cricket was bound to rub off. In the news yesterday I read that Afghanistan has qualified for the World Championship for the first time in 2015.

Well done, Afghanistan!

Certainly a change from the usual news about bombs, attacks and those nasty Americans.

I’ll make some fresh incentive coffee, and see if I can’t blog along.

Dizzy Lizzy Pills

I need one of these

I seriously need one of these

Despite my having taken the dizzy lizzy pills as prescribed at regular +/- give-or-take intervals, I still have the occasional dizzy lizzy.

Like last night, the final ten minutes of class threatened to send me into an embarrassing collapse in mid-flight. Then again during the night, I woke at 1, something, o’clock and tried to sit up in bed… whoops, wrong thing to do; I fell back in an amoebic-like heap and lay still letting the fan play across my sweating form until I finally fell asleep waking two hours later feeling fine +/-.

My head feels a little thick, okay, thicker than it normally feels! But I think (ouch that hurts) I’ll get through the day; especially as it is a day off.

Today, I attempt a god-like miracle. I will attempt the resurrection of my beloved little saucepan (see yesterday’s post). I haven’t got a fancy rock to roll away, and Mary Magdalene hasn’t stopped by, yet.

I so wanted smoke out of his ears, but couldn't find one

No, Bradley, I will not be calling you Celeste

Bradley Manning has, or at least, wants to be Celeste, the big question is, now that he has been imprisoned for 35 years, will the army let him?

You see, I was right again; the army judge didn’t award him the Medal of Honor which he justifiably deserved.

Obama really has his panties in a twist over these guys.

I bet he’s fuming over Snowden.

I so wanted smoke pouring out of his ears, but couldn’t find one. Google is really so slack.

Fish for lunch, baked, poached, fried, I haven’t decided… yet. Snap decision when I open the fridge. It’s times like these that I really miss my Lixo, he so loved the trimmings of the fish as I prepared it. Gone but not forgotten my little friend.

There has been a suggestion, that the use of nerve gas in Syria, was a deliberate attempt to escalate the situation to armed conflict, in effect a ‘false flag’ situation. These seem to be prevalent wherever America is involved, almost so prevalent as to be totally discarded as a coincidence. It really makes one wonder WTF is going on? And, personally, I find the answer scary!

Think of it like this…

shadyas

The dogs represent our traditional enemies and fears, whereas the cat represents our security… America.

I think that is a brilliant analogy… of course, I would, it’s mine!

Must blog along, much to do today, despite the woolly head.

Hung Won-on

brainbulb

Maybe it needs to be screwed in a little more securely

Not to be confused with  a North Korean…

Yes, I did. Hence the brain is not functioning well at the moment. Mind you, it is better than it was at 1am, 3am, 5am and 7.

Not only the head, but also the nether region, I had a beaut dose of diarrhea. I won’t present the full details in order to protect your sensibilities.

It all started as a shopping trip. I had planned to wander around a few shops and make a couple of purchases; things that I had seen Easter weekend. After the first mega-store, Superlar (Super home), my left leg was beginning to ache, so clutching my bag of booty I hobbled off to the only place that I knew of that had seats, beer and food; in that order. One must have one’s priorities right.

Yes, I went to Brazeiro, where I could find the four main essentials, BBQ, salad bar, beer and a nice environment.

stacarolinavistañaNext time, I must take my camera, there are no images of the Brazeiro that I go to on google.

After two beers and a lot to eat, I decided that I would get a bottle of wine, dry white. I do like my wine and this Vistaña from Santa Carolina winery in the Central Valley, Chile was just what the doctor ordered.

I spent the rest of the afternoon quaffing my chilled wine and nibbling on cheese bits.

So far, all was well.

I got a taxi home and saw friends at the botequim next door. One doesn’t want to appear churlish and ignore one’s friends especially on a Saturday afternoon.

It was soon after my arrival that Lincoln, one of the afore mentioned friends, produced a bottle of José Cuervo Tequila… It was about the same time that things began not to go so well and time moved on until I realised that I was chapado (more than a little under the weather).

It was news time, and I thought that retreat was the better part of valour. I went home.

There you have it, a perfect way to waste a Saturday.

I rarely get beyond happy, sometimes a little tiddly, I have even been known to waddle with a starboard list on the way home, but I never get drunk, that was until last night…

Yes, I hung one on…
