Yes, I did it again

Started the BBQ at midday.

Finnished the BBQ at 4pm, when we had a rain storm. Also, I had run out of meat.

For those of you who are curious, here is a better shot of ‘seu Oliveira’ along with some pork belly cripsing.

seu Oliveira....

seu Oliveira….

Check yesterday’s post if you are in the dark.

Today is Monday, no meat, no BBQ.

Still doing the weekend dishes.

But I did have a lunchtime beer, followed by Nap-fu. Which is when it started to pitter-patter with rain, now it is persisting down. The rain was expected, as we had watched the heavy clouds come over while having our beer. It was clearly a case of when, not would it.

I have spent the day with my ear glued to the phone, as I had done all day Friday, no phone call from lawyer. So I can only assume that tomorrow will not happen. Am I reprieved?

Silly Box: Today, the Guardian proved itself absolutely useless. I had complained in previous posts that they had changed the format of their ‘Environment’ page, which has stopped me from using it as a principal source of such news. Today they have changed the ‘news’ front page to the same useless jumbled format. I have deleted it from my pages to visit as totally useless as a reference source.

Why must people fix things that aren’t broken?

The Pope has upset the Curia (cardinals administration) in his annual address to cardinals. Accusing them of self-centred infighting and being power hungry to the detriment of the church. While I criticised him for kow towing to China when he refused the Dali Lama an audience, he is generally good for the church; literally a breath of fresh air.

A town in Argentina becomes the first in the country to ban beauty queen competitions in its traditional festivities, arguing they are sexist. Good going.

Australia’s Tony Idiott is back in the news. Quote: “The problem isn’t that Tony Abbott’s stuck in the past, it’s that he wants the rest of Australia to go back there and keep him company in a world where men do the big jobs and women do the ironing,” – BBCNews

Shopping via the internet has become the thing to do. It seems as though its not without problems as several big food companies in Britain have experienced IT problems, and promises that Christmas shopping will be delivered… after Christmas. That’s just lovely if you were expecting to make Christmas dinner for the family.

It’s now after 4pm, the rain has stopped, it is cooler now. I should go and take advantage, because it is still hot in the house, I am sitting under the fan on full.

Later.

Weekendish

betweenSat&SunWith my screwed up Saturdays, Sunday doesn’t really feel like Sunday anymore.

If the powers that be can stuff around with daylight saving, surely they could invent a new weekend day.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who would approve.

Laundry lady came, babbled a lot and went.

While ignoring the banal banter I managed to post, and here I am at the end of the day. It’s only 5pm, but I consider that a Sunday the day ends here.

It’s election day, so no football.

On a Sunday there is nothing but crap on TV from midday until 9pm. then there’s a current affairs programme that sometimes too can be crap, although not always. Sometimes it exposes the nefarious goings ons of politicians, government or criminals… there I go, repeating myself again.

I love the opening of this programme.

Quite ethereal.

I made a huge tray of sushi today and took it to the botequim. I’m getting quite proficient now and it only took me an hour and a half from washing the rice to eating with my first beer. A half dozen of the fregües (regulars) like it and participate and the tray didn’t last long.

So that was my contribution for the day.

I came back home for Nap-fu practice, which I might add was successful.

In my despising daylight savings, it appears that I am not alone. The Russians tried DST as a permanent fixture. But this weekend they are returning to ‘normal’ time for the last time. No more DST.

As there is nothing on TV, and the botequim crowd are people I don’t know, I may see if I can rest, although guilty feelings about the dishes may reign supreme.

Meanwhile, think about that extra day… what would we call a new day between Saturday and Sunday?

Later.

*Yawns* Monday already

OMGIMondayMonday has arrived.

*Thinking dark thoughts*

The laundry lady is here, I can’t concentrate, yabber, yabber, blah, blah…

Laundry lady has now gone… Yay!

First things first.

There will be a break in transmission while I do some important things, starting with Nap-fu practice. The plants must be watered, although it’s not hot, there is a drying breeze draining the moisture from their pots. The washing is almost all dry.

Then, I am thinking about having lunch, out. That way there are no ugly dirty dishes until supper time.

Later… I promise.

Turvo

3qhwo4

I had two naps today, life is such fun

I’ve left you until last again today, but I have a healthy hour in which to entertain you all.

I have just woken from my Nap-fu, yes, my vision is turvo (out of focus, murky) again. But the good news is, or is it bad news… Have to give that some thought. I am sitting too close to the screen. There has been a shift in my vision. It was a bit like the revelation that my arms weren’t long enough to read a book in focus and hence needed reading glasses.

If I move back from the screen, I can see it okay; but then I can’t reach the keyboard. I need to remodel my table here, so that the keyboard is further away, or get a new pair of arms. Or maybe a set of nuclear ICBMs, they are arms with a longer reach.

I went to the supermarket, but first I did the dishes because I needed a place to put the groceries. Life can be so complicated, all these decisions.

It’s cooler today so my plants aren’t doing a collective wilt. I’ll water them tomorrow.

I had to laugh at the Russians. Russia is warning the US against attacking the IS in Syria…  this has to be a joke, because they class any such action as a ‘gross violation of international law.’ After what they did in Crimea and are now doing in Ukraine. There’s some really flawed thinking going on.

I just read a post on Lenny Says, it’s one of the blogs I follow regularly. It’s often very funny, or maybe just a jaundiced look at things, as it was today.

Your Eggs-Box

Your Eggs-Box

The story was based around Lenny’s problems with his Blackberry, and it has a great video clip, which at the end made reference to an X-Box…

Which I have pictured for your edification.

X = eggs, but here in Brazil, X is often used as an abbreviation for cheese (particulary where burgers are concerned), because it’s pronounced sheesh, from cheese, because the ch in Brazil is sh, not ch as in English.

So I am now looking for a Cheese box.

So for all of you who are haunted by the cries from your prodgeny, “But Johnnie has one!” Therein lies your solution, buy a half dozen eggs.

Let’s talk about American intelligence, normally I would class that as an oxymoron (two conflicting ideas), and indeed I have a good example. The CIA has revised its estimates of IS to three times the previous number. This makes me wonder, really wonder, about the effectiveness of all this American spying, technology and shit. How can they be sooooo wrong in the first place? A classic case of they don’t really know what theyre doing.

I read last night that a final report on Building 7 in the 9/11 Twin Towers attack is nearly ready; and it appears they are going with the idea that internal fires caused the collapse. They have mentioned that the previously unseen side of the the tower was extensively damaged. Now if that was the case, the building would not have fallen in on itself as videos clearly show; it would have collapsed to the weakened damaged side and fallen sideways. This is another government sponsored cover-up.

I would dearly love someone to rebuild Building 7 to the original specs, and light the fires. Only then will the truth be known.

I’ll leave you with a thought.

Oh, I washed my reading glasses, they work fine, but they sit wonky on my face. I prefer turvo.

Chain Reaction

Yesterday, I left you as I was about to prepare lunch at 4pm.

Now in order to do that, I had to wash the dishes from Sunday’s BBQ.

That’s about where the laws of physics took over.

DishesChainReaction

Chain reaction

No sooner than I had started the dishes, running water, etc, I had the urgent need to pee.

What is with running water and the need to pee? Do women need to tinkle before doing the dishes?

Eventually, I got my beef curry on rice.

wrackingmybrainHaving got that off my chest. I have another problem. What to write about…

Since yesterday, nothing really exciting has happened in my world. The botequim opened after my lunch, in good time to quench my after-curry thirst.

I was in much agony yesterday, I had a crook back, couldn’t move far, nor fast. That lasted until I went to bed. Woke up this morning, all better.

CeleryButtI planted my celery butt.

I could hardly stand the excitement.

It’s already growing little celeries, so I should soon have celery on call when I need it.

It’s so wasteful at the supermarket when you just need a few stalks but you have to buy a whole plant.

Twitter, dumb stupid Twitter, sent me another list of people to follow. SEO, Marketing Director, Marketing Muse… DELETE!

Google is in the poo again in Europe and unfair advertising. Honestly, Google is too big, too biased, it should be disbanded; or banned from the internet until it stops being such a shit site.

internetleakingI read yesterday that the internet is leaking.

Personal data stores found leaking online

“Thousands of Britons could be inadvertently sharing their digital secrets with anyone who knows where to click, suggests a BBC investigation.

At risk are photographs, home videos and music collections as well as scans of documents such as passports, tax forms and other sources of personal data. In some cases, back-up files are being made available that, if downloaded and restored, could let attackers take over a victim’s online life.

Security firms suggest that attackers have already found out about this easy-to-access source of saleable data and are starting to actively seek it out and share it.”BBC News, link above.

Rather disquietening.

Apparently, it’s not just leaking clouds, but your PC is leaking data too.

It seems as though nothing is safe  from prying eyes anymore.

My piece yesterday about the prostrate surgery of Iran’s supreme leader, prompted a comment that “maybe the Americans had a finger in this…” Then I thought, yes, the American government do have a finger in most unsavoury activity around the world, just like a proctologist.

Another still sunny day, I have wtered my drooping plants. Apparently this weather will continue until Friday, with each day getting progressively hotter than today’s expected high of 32ºC. Not bad, considering we are officially still in winter.

This post was brought to you with oodles of coffee, many cigarettes and not a fart joke insight.

I’ll fix that right now!

Ah, Breakfast

Nap-fuMasterThere’s nothing like breakfast after a heavy Nap-fu session.

I don’t always have breakfast, just coffee, but this morning following the coldest night of the year, it was a belly warming experience. Marmalade on hot buttered toast, that quintessential English breakfast.

I was originally going to title this post Nap-Fu King… but when I saw it in print I changed my mind, least it be misconstrued.

Remember I wrote about the neighbours’ cat, the Siamese one… the pretty pregnant one?

Well.

KittyInstallation

She’s nearly installed herself.

Last night, she came in the front door, looked at me, walked straight past the sofa into the kitchen and fed herself.

I can’t deny her food, her owners obviously don’t give her enough or she wouldn’t be coming here to eat. In her delicate condition she needs food.

I am wondering when she will auto-install the add-ons kittens…

dirty-dishes

It’s criminal

My kitchen seems to be in a state of perpetual motion; dishes in the sink, dishes out of the sink, dishes back in the sink. No sooner do I do the dishes, then there’s more dishes to be done. I am convinced this is an evil plot against humanity, me in particular. The fluxing dishes!

I have been following the tragedy of the Malaysian Airlines plane shot down over Ukraine. The USA is squealing like a stuck pig, which is a bit hypocritical since they have done the same thing twice; pot calling the kettle black. It has also led me to think that they dost squeal too much. Is there something more sinister going on, is this another false flag? Just how bloody devious is the USA? I trust them not.

So far today, I have coffeed, repeat…

I have also nearly completed my blog run. Just a couple to go.

Yesterday, I spent some time just sitting in the praça pondering life, with a cup of coffee. Clorinha, of course, wasn’t to be left out. Here she is pondering the merits of a little bird for lunch.

Clorinha pondering lunch

Clorinha pondering lunch

This was after she had pissed all the kids off by chasing their kite strings and tails.

The irrestiable attraction of a loose kite string

The irresistable attraction of a loose kite string

She thought it was fun, the kids did not.

I tried to get a video of her racing about madly, but she was faster than the camera could focus.

While searching for photos for yesterday’s post, I found this.

Awesome butterflies

Awesome butterflies

They were at a roadside stop as we travelled from Santa Cruz de la Sierra north to Concepción. I’d love to know what species.

I had planned weinerschnitzel for lunch, but with 25 minutes left to go, I have just discovered that I forgot to take the meat out of the freezer. Oh well, tomorrow. Looks like corned beef, mustard sauce and spuds.

I’ll leave you with this…

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shone his flashlight around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said, ‘Jesus knows you’re here.’

He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight off, and froze. When he heard nothing more, he shook his head and continued.

Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard ‘Jesus is watching you.’

parrotStartled, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice. Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot.

‘Did you say that?’ he hissed at the parrot.

‘Yes’, the parrot confessed, then squawked, ‘I’m just trying to warn you that he’s watching you.’

The burglar relaxed. ‘Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?’

‘Moses,’ replied the bird.

‘Moses?’ the burglar laughed. ‘What kind of people would name a bird Moses?’

‘The kind of people who would name a Rottweiler Jesus.’

My Voices are Quiet

Blank Mind

Blank Mind

Which has left me at a loss for a post.

It’s true, my mind is a blank.

I’m sure the neurons are firing, like I remember where the fridge is.

But I am sitting here forsaken by my voices, devoid of conscious thought, bereft of ideas.

Yes, maybe I need coffee…

CoffeeistheanswerIn coffee there is inspiration, hope and destiny.

Now we’re on the right track, the answer can be found nowhere else.

I have posted on all blogs today, this is the last.

I have napped successfully twice and halfheartedly once; hence the third attempt.

I did the dishes, the kitchen is still in mourning.

The one nice thing about the bruschetta that I bought is that it came in a dinky square jar.

Now I have a dinky square jar and absolutely no idea what to do with it.

Camera Bowels

Camera Bowels

I emptied the bowels of my camera.

It’s amazing the crap (hence I call it the bowels) you find there, that you’ve forgotten about.

Good photos, bad photos, furry photos and photos that leave you wondering what on earth were you thinking about when you took them.

It all comes out of the bowels.

Yes, I have an 8gb card. That way the battery runs out before the card, necessary when you have a 7-year-old daughter visit and the eventual “Can I use the camera?”

Yesterday was a relaxing day. No football, no classes and a single bottle of beer in the chilly evening before collapsing on the sofa with exhaustion to watch the evening news.

My view of the world cup was much like this:

How I viewed the World Cup

How I viewed the World Cup

Big screen at the rear of the botequim between to heads, one usually had a silly hat.

I made weinerschnitzel for lunch the other day. Here’s how I do it.

Rump steak and small kitchen knife

Rump steak and small kitchen knife

This is my favourite knife, it’s not fancy just R$7, made of plain steel, hence the rust spots, but it is sharp and holds its edge better than its R$40 counterparts.

It cuts beautiful steaks.

Beautifully cut schnitzels

Beautifully cut schnitzels

And before the end steak gets too thin, slice it in two for two BBQ steaks now in the freezer waiting for the next BBQ.

My lunch after the ceremonial butchering and crumbing.

Weinerschitzel with bruschetta topping

Weinerschnitzel with bruschetta topping

Boiled potatoes with oodles of pepper and a knob of butter, cauliflower with Provolone cheese sauce.

Is it any wonder that my kitchen sink is always full of dishes?

So there you have a glimpse of what was in the bowels of my camera. There was more, but more for my Eco-Crap blog updates tomorrow than here.

First student cancelled. So now there is no need to panic and get to work in the 20 minutes left. Next class at 6pm.

Here you have an example of a blog post written off the cuff with out a conscious thought and some coffee.

Sneering and Jeering

Just thought you should know…

No, nothing about football.

I walked into the kitchen and sneered at the dishes. The damned things sneered back. So I washed them and hid them in the cupboards. Cheeky blighters!

While I was making a snack, cold corned beef sandwich, Clorinha was doing the meow-I’m-starving act, so I threw a bit of gristle and meat on the floor. Eaten. Okay, another piece, only sniffed at it.

I left it on the floor, too lazy to bend down and eventually stood on it later.

Clorinha came in sniffed at it and ate it. Standing on it must have made it more flavourful… some how.

I beat the kids, I got another guava!

Later, again.

See sometimes when I say later, I mean it. 🙂

The prestigeous 5 kilos of gold

The prestigious 5 kilos of gold

The day after, soul-searching, nursing severely bruised egos…

Not since 1920 has Brazil been so humiliated, Uruguay 6 – Brazil 0; mind you, Brazil did a 7 – 1 to Switzerland once.

After the game yesterday, even God cried; it rained as soon as the game finished..

At least we didn’t suffer the humiliation of being sent home… we’re already there.

And, it’s not our last game. Brazil plays the losers of today’s Holland vs Argentina game for a somewhat ignoble third place.

Nothing beats the glory of holding that 5 kilos of gold aloft.

I have been moping… and I’m not even a real Brazilian, so I imagine how they feel, I feel their pain, I share it. I haven’t even done the dishes, nor blogged, nor read the news, but I did have a wonderful nap.

LikebuttonI have a heap of comments to reply to, and I thank all those who took the time to share my sorrow, and visit bloggers who took their time to click my ‘Like’ button. I will get round to it today, promise.

Today marks a return to normal; class tonight, pay my net bill, and buy some bread to make supper tonight after class.

Another cool sunny day, rescued a guava, fell off the bucket doing so. Left me clutching the gate for dear life. I returned to the kitchen for another coffee to settle rattled nerves. I know, I should invest in a ladder instead of using an upturned bucket, but then I would have only fallen from higher.

Lunch has been had; homemade fish bites leftover from yesterday.

Blogging right along…

Later.

I wonder what Cruel will use against the Argentinians? He’ll need stronger medicine than just psyching tem out; maybe…

After Yesterday’s Fiasco

Clorinha being a book under my lappy table

Clorinha being a book under my lappy table

The first thing I did this morning when I woke up was to take a nap.

I guess most people would call it sleeping in.

I was so cozy with Clorinha purring under my chin, I didn’t have the heart to move; so I fell asleep again.

She is growing up and getting bigger.

Today is another footballess day. (Should that have three ‘l’s?)

Tomorrow is a different story. Brazil vs Colombia. Brazilians have a day off, so do the Colombians.

Brazil-vs-Colombia-World-Cup

An important day for both countries.

Yesterday’s lunch:

yesterdayslunch

Which goes part way to explaining my M.I.A. day.

intel-inside-idiot-outsideI found this, which might have been more applicable for yesterday’s post.

Yesterday at the supermarket, I nearly bought some Australian wine… screw caps, back on the shelf.

Pity, it looked good too.

The neighbour’s cat who sneaks in and steals Clorinha’s food has taken a liking to me at the botequim and always comes for a pet.

The neighbour's cat

The neighbour’s cat

She’s beautiful and got a belly full of paws and claws.

But she will give Clorinha a box around the ears; and won’t come near me at home.

Although she’s getting game, she just appeared at the bedroom door, looked at me then scarpered.

Lunch will be fried fish leftovers, they were for yesterday, but BBQ took preference.

Cool sunny day, class at 5:30.

This World Cup has played havoc with my teaching hours. I won’t know until the end of the game tomorrow if I have a class on Tuesday or not. If Brazil wins, I don’t have class; if Brazil loses, I have class.

I came home yesterday and found this…

Beer crates outside my gate

Beer crates outside my gate

My immediate thought was “There is a God after all”, then I realised they were empties waiting to be loaded on the truck. Back to being an atheist.

I am looking at doing something constructive after this post, first lunch, then I may divide one of my pot plants into two pots. I could look at the dishes… but then that’s all I’ll do; I can’t ruin my reputation by doing them three times in a week.

Tummy rumbling, a sure sign that I need to eat.

Later.
