3am & Coffee

starterfluidIt usually works. The combination does strange things to one’s mind.

But I just sat there reading the news, checking comments and reading new posts waiting for inspiration to kick in.

Now it’s nearly 6am and nary a nueron has moved.

Thunder in the background and the patter of rain.

The lull before the storm. No not the weather, today is a nothing day, tomorrow I have a shitload to do to prepare for BBQ (the storm). Mainly trip to supermarket to buy dead cow. I have all the pork I need, I am lacking rump steak, liver, chicken hearts, bread rolls for the garlic bread. I might get a slab salmon to grill with capers, if I can find some at a good price.

Yesterday I harvested my chilies off two bushes. I have to pick them over and bottle them in olive oil today.

Lots of chilies

Last night I was determined to go to bed with no dishes waiting to stare me down in the morning. FAIL! I decided to make a bread ‘n butter pudding for comfort food to watch the football. Needed comforting, Flamengo were down 2-0 near the end of the game, so I flicked off the TV and went to bed.

*Gazes around room wondering what’s next?*

A comment on another of my blogs yeaterday asked what a praça was.

This is our praça, doesn’t look much, but it’s our green space. My house is just behind me.

So, I went back to bed…

…and got up again.

Hello Kitty

I had to make coffee. My world has been destroyed!

Hello Kitty is NOT a cat!

It’s true, it’s headline news.

“She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat.

“She’s never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature.

“She does have a pet cat of her own, however, and it’s called Charmmy Kitty.”BBCNews

This is shocking!

I had a cat named Hello Kitty. She was given to us by close neighbours. As soon as Ellen Suelen, my six-year-old stepdaughter, saw the kitten she exclaimed, “Ooh, Hello Kitty!” and that was that, despite the fact that the cat was not pink.

HK was with us for four years and had two lots of kittens. So, yes, for us Hello Kitty was a cat.

I did do some posting in the wee small hours, but I still have five blogs to go, so I must blog along.

Moorish or Morish

Yes, that was lunch, both moorish and morish.

Dried shiitake

Dried shiitake was soaked in Chardonnay

Pork cubes delicately burnt golden in a Chardonnay and Shiitake sauce on whole rice, with crispy boiled cualiflower and a cheese and parsley sauce.

Oh, I do spoil myself.

After last week’s trials and tribulations, I bloody well deserve some spoiling.

First of all, I must thank those who came to my rescue and suggested Open Office, d/loaded and installed and tested. Absolutely marvelous, one more rigid digit in the Microsoft direction. Unfortunately, I think the spellchecker was linked to MS, because it’s missing on all applications. While my powersof spelling are fairly finely honed, my typing is not; therefore, I rely on spellchecker to bring things to my attention.

Nothing’s perfect.

I am still installing various programmes that I use, a painstaking task. I was so frustrated trying to find the audio driver, I was sure I had transferred a copy of it to my external drive. I had, I fould it last night; too late, I had refound it and installed it. Now I have a copy in two places.

Wrong boot

Wrong boot path

I have almost completed my blog postings for today, I have two to go. Saturdays are mostly easy, because Satireday posts are usually just one image. But I have to google for images, as my image bank remains on old D drive which I can’t connect, because it wants to be the Master drive and it is just a storage drive; BIOS isn’t giving me the SATA drive option to force the correct BOOT path.

I commented on one post, that last week my PC was suffering from PMT.

Monaco’s royal couple are expecting. That’s headline news, like it doesn’t happen to every woman on the planet, or at least is capable of happening.

The Nigerian woman and her two daughters have been given a short reprieve from deportation to Nigeria where the daughters face FGM at the hands of relatives.

My opinion is that if she is deported and the daughters suffer this horrendous Muslim ritual, that those responsible for her deportation face criminal charges in abetting the FGM, which is against the law in Britain. My further opinion is, that the bastards should be publicly hung. The reprieve is only for another two days. I watch developments with interest.

Girls waiting with trepidation to be 'cut'

Girls waiting with trepidation to be ‘cut’

For those who have no idea what FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) is.

This is a brutal act, without anesthethetic, these girls will have their external genitalia and clitoris removed. It is a horrible, bloody and barbaric ritual; many of the girls die.

Another bash at Islam, the woman in Sudan facing 100 lashes and the death sentence because she married a Christian… She is accused of apostacy, leaving Islam, and adultery because her marriage to a Christian is not accepted by Muslim law. She was never a Muslim, her father, a Muslim,  deserted the family soon after her birth and she was raised as an Orthodox Christian. She gave birth to her daughter last week while in shackles in prison and not taken to a medical facility.

In Saudi Arabia, a youth who was 17 at the time he was accused of committing offences against the state, has been sentenced to death. The authorities waited until he was 18 before charginging him as an adult, because as a youth he could not be sentenced to death.

The world is full of real bastards; and it makes me sick. It makes me ashamed to be classed as human along side them.

The Sudanese woman is to be freed. BBC Link

Someone has come to their senses.

Time to do something constructive. I believe I will construct a beer.

Caught Short

The first puddle

I did a puddle

I did a puddle

Maybe Clorinha was caught short, or had a temporary lapse of memory, or maybe the dirt box was simply too far from the bedroom.

A small puddle appeared this morning, at least it was accessible to be cleaned up.

So far she’s been pretty good, the sand in the dirt box gets shifted around regularly, so I must assume that she’s using it.

Maybe I’ll have to up her morning coffee… 🙂

Major disaster

HIDDEN_264_3122_FOTO_PC_con_Windows_XP

The last great MS product

XP support finishes today!

Further proof that MicroSoft is a fool.

The report that I read states that 20-25% of users are still using XP. I refute that figure, 100% of the people that I know are still using it. They have refused 7, 8 & 8.1 categorically. Two that I know bought new 8.1 PCs recently, and immediately reformatted the drives and loaded XP. I think MS’s figures are pie in the sky, wishful thinking to justify the decision to stop support. Here is Brazil there are PC stores that will do that for you, so there IS a need.

From my point of view, the fiasco with Windows Vista, destroyed my confidence in any newer MS product and until they come to their senses and restore XP, I will continue to look at avenues to rid my life of MS products.

15_captain_america_600I see headline news that Captain America has broken records.

Not in this house he hasn’t.

I wouldn’t walk across the street to see it, even if it was free.

Further proof that the world needs to get a life.

These films are a waste of time and space; and the media needs to show real news.

Turns out that the train driver that crashed in New York was found to have “severe obstructive sleep apnoea”. I understand that’s a chronic dropping off to sleep anywhere, anytime… How the hell did he pass a medical to drive a damned train?

Britain: A secret sensitive document from Michael Grove has surfaced. One which outlines the limiting the fallout of  failures in his precious academy school system; it’s too embarrassing. Quite frankly, Grove is too embarrassing and should be sacked for trying to hide the truth from the public. MPs are supposed to be protecting the people, not covering up personal embarrassments. He has clearly demonstrated that he is not competent to be a politician.

I really wonder that the world is full of these wankers. Mind you, the fault is basically ours… we put them there.

No classes on this fine sunny day. A trip to the supermarket has been mooted. Clorinha is asleep on the arm of the sofa. The world is as it should be, at least in this household. Lunch will depend on what I find at the supermarket, no plans there yet.

Later.
