I missed the deadline

list1Yes, all things being as they should have been, I had planned a late afternoon/evening post.

But that was overtaken by the need to pay a bill, which I had planned to pay in the morning but nobody was in the office and necessitated a return in the afternoon.

I arrived home and the botequim was open. It was a stinking hot day, so there was only once course of action to be taken.

So the post was delayed by beer. Then there was more beer, as I watched the sky cloud over. The subject turned to rain, would it. or wouldn’t it? Recent days have seen the sky cloud over and produce nary a drop of rain.

Then there was Brazil vs Turkey, nice result 4-0 to us.

However, yesterday it did rain. Not an awful lot, but more than the miserable efforts of last week

The intended post was then delayed by the local news, the dishes and then further delayed by the national news. The end of the news, and I was beset by a severe bout of the yawns and drooping eyelids; I hadn’t had my customery Nap-fu practice. The TV was turned off, couldn’t even stay awake for the football.

Today, I must get onto some posting; and this is the first.

I mentioned doing the dishes, which leaves me wondering why I still have a sink full of them…

This morning, first coffee, second coffee, watered the plants just to be sure, third coffee… and here I am.

It’s cool out there at the moment, but the sky is cloudless, and the prospect of a return to hot, hot is high on the cards.

Nothing planned for today, except classes in the evening.

Exciting news, one of my plants has flowered. I didn’t even know this plant had flowers, so I am quite excited.

Not a fancy orchid-like flower, but a flower never-the-less

Not a fancy orchid-like flower, but a flower never-the-less

That was taken a couple of days ago, a single yellow petal with the sexy bits rising from it. Now there are little buds growing at the bases the fluffy bits. I assume they are seeds. I love watching the natural aspects of life. It takes ones mind off the rigours of the day. This is something that many people have forgotten how to do… relax.

Silly Box: Japan is going to restart at least one of their nuclear reactors, another chance for another Fukushima; just in case the world didn’t get totally destroyed by the first. If you’re going to do a job, don’t be half-assed about it.

Kirchner from Argentina was reported to be in a stable condition in hospital. That would be a first; she’s never been stable.

The Qatar bid for the 2022 World Cup report is due today, and expected to say no skullduggery was found. That’s bullshit. It has to be a white wash. Every aspect of their bid as reported in the news showed kickbacks, payments for changing votes, expensive presents. Makes me wonder how much the author of the report was paid/given… sucks.

The outgoing president of Uruguay has been offered $1m for his old VW Beetle by an Arab sheik. Honestly some people have more money than brains. What the hell would make a VW Beetle worth that much? But true to form, the world’s poorest president plans to donate the money to a charity that he supports. Which is where most of his salary goes.

Okay, fourth coffee coming up, and I continue to play the waiting game.

HAHA Update!

What did I say above?

The investigator of the FIFA bidding process has said that the report released by FIFA is WRONG. “contains numerous materially incomplete and erroneous representations of the facts and conclusions”. -BBCNews

Laughing all the way, I knew it, I just knew it.

Muggy

GHWYes, it’s muggy. Not hot, but very humid. I am sitting here in my underpants….

Oh shit, you didn’t read the warning, did you!

…sweating at 8am.

And the day promises to get hotter.

Last night, I had pizza for supper. I had planned a full meal, but after late class and a later beer, I decided that pizza was less time and effort.

breakfastSo, breakfast this morning, I took the advice of Foul Bachelor Frog (see Tuesday’s posts on Nether Region of the Earth III) and had a ready prepared snack in the fridge.

Although, I did make it more breakfasty by spreading cream cheese on it.

Quite yummy.

In my younger days we didn’t have pizza like today. There were no Pizza Huts or pizzas in the supermarkets, so we didn’t have the same advantages of today’s youths where cold pizza competes with cornflakes as a breakfast food I can, however, recommend it.

The carefree life of a bachelor. Nobody watching over your shoulder muttering “That’s disgusting!”

Remember those pork steaks from yesterday, they didn’t get schnitzeled. I have that ready for today. The kids didn’t arrive for their class yesterday, I tried ringing the ex, but kept being diverted to the message box; I guess she’s out of credits again and has the cellphone off.

I’m still waiting for the techy-type to change my standby monitor for a standby standby monitor and take my second LCD away to see if that can be repaired. The original LCD monitor seems to have a protection problem that is causing him some grief. Probably more to do with planned obsolescence. The second LCD I think is a power (on/off switch) problem which may/may not be easier to tackle, and therefore speedier. He’s behaving like a Brazilian… Oh, wait, he is Brazilian.

Headline news, some idiot tried to swim to North Korea… How obtuse can you be? North Koreans are trying to escape the clutches of the mental little brat that runs the place, and he tries to go there….

Yes/No The noes have it. Scotland stays in the United Kingdom. Apparently they will still be allowed to toss cabers.

It must be sad living in a country with no sense of humour – “Six Iranians arrested for appearing in a video dancing to Pharrell Williams’ song Happy have been sentenced to up to one year in prison and 91 lashes, their lawyer says”. – BBCNews.

Yesterday, I mentioned the IS threat of beheading a random Australian. Well, today they have increased security at parliament, Tony Abbott doesn’t want to considered ‘random’. He’s already considered an idiot, adding random to that would just be overboard.

Sushi ko- whale meat

Sushi ko – whale meat

More sushi than science: Japan is flying in the face of the IWC ruling banning it’s scientific sushi whaling expeditions.

Apparently you can also get whale’s balls…

Actually they are korokke made with whale meat as a form of croquette.

There is actually some doubt as to whether the whales ever get scrutinised by scientists and the whole thing is commercial whaling in disguise.

Check out this chart, I believe it is classed as scientific research.

It is about here that I run out of steam and inspiration.

Dead Man’s Chest

Loverly plonk

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum, ah wine!

This wine, in fact ——–>

I put yesterday’s theory to the test and had a bottle of wine with lunch, then after lunch and for afternoon tea. By that time the bottle was empty.

I was still quite lucid and hadn’t forgotten anything, least of all the fact that I live next door; so I conclude that red wine, at least, is good for the memory.

The test for white wine will take place another day without classes.

After lunch, I took the bottle and my wine glass to the botequim, Raimundo looked at me askance as I announced I was bringing a touch of class to his humble bar.

He’s quite used to the eccentricities of his foreign neighbour, so didn’t bat an eyelid as I hauled a plastic chair off the pile and sat at the table on the veranda to pour another glass.

I sat there for the afternoon quaffing my Merlot in the afternoon sun.

I had a successful day yesterday; I successfully shattered a glass ashtray on the bedroom floor. It wasn’t one of those planned thingies. As I emptied it in the trash can, I clipped the edge of the table and it went sailing magnificently through the air to shatter quite spectacularly on the slate floor.

My immediate thought was, “Bugger, well that’s one less to wash!”

Lethargy – one of my commenters appraised lethargy as being a sophisticated way of saying ‘fat, lazy slug’. The subject was 40ºC+ temps of a Spanish summer. While we all strive to be sophisticated, sometimes ‘fat, lazy slug’ just fits the bill perfectly.

Have you had your oprectomy yet?

Anyone in there?

Anyone in there?

Another comment on another blog wrote about another ‘ectomy’ operation that he had undergone, which reminded me of a historic cartoon in the days before hard drives.

Basically, it described this delicate oprectomy as an operation that severs the cord that connects your eyeballs to your rectum to remove your shitty outlook on life.

This small operation improves one’s life immensely.

There, that’s enough medicine for the day.

Not only Japan!

Not only Japan!

Stupidity

Proof that the human race learns nothing.

The Japanese are looking at restarting two reactors…

Shit, haven’t they done enough damage to the planet with Fukushima?

IMHO, any country that has earthquake risks and tidal waves should be banned from even thinking about nuclear energy.

Australia have abandoned the carbon tax. Tony Abbot is a wanker taking the country back to the stone age. Now he wants to pay the carbon producing industries to control their carbon output; how twisted is that? Paying the criminal not to steal…

A fridge should have more than just beer

A fridge should have more than just beer

Sunny still day out there, I haven’t given lunch a thought… there’s no lunch in the fridge to think about.

I could, of course, rectify that, but it means putting on more than my underpants. Now is that lethargy, or just being a fat, lazy slug?

I conclude from the ‘Likes’ on my last two posts, that my readers are more interested in the bowels of my camera and my voices than vaginas and arseholes…

Let’s see what they make of a post in which I said ‘rectum’.

Now, just because I have mentioned arseholes and rectums in two subsequent posts, don’t go jumping to the conclusion that I have a rectal fixation. The only connection I have with my rectum is between me and the toilet paper and the toilet paper isn’t talking.

Just enough time to have a nap, before I don’t have lunch.

I lost my pussy

She’s around here somewhere, I just can’t find her. She has her little hiding places; behind the sofas, inside the old PC and the like, and she loves hiding in the garden.

Clorinha playing Hide 'n Seek

Clorinha playing Hide ‘n Seek

Found her!

She is so dumb sometimes. Like yesterday she spotted a butterfly fluttering across the yard and she was off, today I put a lump of mincemeat in her dish almost under her nose and had to show her where it was.

I am back to normal again. I ate some mortadela (luncheon or bologna, depends where you are) in bread rolls last night and I am back on dairy products today; milk in my coffee and cheese sandwich for lunch.

If it's ovoid, it's an egg

If it’s ovoid, it’s an egg

I saw an article about buying eggs yesterday. Interesting, so much to consider. I am a typical male, if it’s ovoid, it’s an egg. I get them from the other bar in our street, so I know they’re fresh, although not free-range, which I’d prefer.

Have you ever wondered why eggs are ovoid? Simple, it stops the hen’s orifice from snapping shut… ouch!

Just imagine the shock…

SNAP! WTF was that?

SNAP! WTF was that?

Prince Charles is just like his father, Prince Phillip. Opens mouth and puts his foot in it. This time he has upset Putin, by likening his actions to Nazis. Putin is incensed, because it’s verging on true. He’s the biggest threat to peace in Europe since WWII.

BP is making a last ditch stand to limit the compensation for damages to the Gulf. I hope they fail. There should be no limit given the size of the disaster. The damages should be paid for in perpetuity until the company bleeds.

So, now when is the world going to demand damages from Japan for screwing up the planet? Fukushima is going to haunt us for as long as there is life on Earth.

England is involved in polls for some European Union thingy election. You’re not allowed to take selfies in the polling booth. There’s no law against it. Here in Brazil, all electronic devices are confiscated before voting.

Malawi has just held elections which are claimed as corrupt. In some places candidates had more votes than there were voters. Yup, that sounds fishy to me.

I have Nap-fued already, short but restful. I have things to do, dishes, water the plants, get rubbish ready for collection, all the exciting stuff of life. Don’t you just envy me?

Teasing Me Again

Just a tease

Just a tease

While we have the heat wave, I have looked forward to some refreshing rain.

The last four days around 2pm we get clouds, some of them are even grey, but they are just teasing us, they go away again.

We were warned last week that the temps would remain high until the 15th. Last night they did a report on TV that said maybe until the end of the month, like the heat wave in 2001; or even later. The this afternoon the weather reporter said the 20th. Quite frankly, I don’t think they know. Meanwhile we suffer; this is the fourth day of 43ºC.

I hope you enjoyed my ‘quickie’ post at 2am this morning. Later when I got up at gentleman’s hours, I read some more of my previous posts. There are a lot there worth reading.

YTcopyrightI even opened my music page and had a trip down memory lane, but I was disappointed to find that many video clips had disappeared for copyright reasons and stuff.

I will have to do a clean up there, and that is going to be a real bitch of a job.

Monday things: I opened a new bag of sugar this morning for my coffee; it was bloody full of ants. So now I have to scoop out ants from my coffee before drinking.

sukhoi_su_27I once had a Warrant Officer who after going to Farnborough Air Show many years ago said to me “That communism maybe a flawed social doctrine, but they build shit hot planes.” He was of course referring to the Russians and an aerial display of the latest Sukhoi fighter of the time.

I must admit, that it looks like one awesome plane.

MdsarchesVietnam is on the way downhill, McDonald’s opened their first outlet (I refuse to call them restaurants) in Hanoi last week. The nasty creep of capitalism. Of course the franchise is owned by the prime minister’s son-in-law, now why doesn’t that surprise me?

The Japanese have upset New Zealand. One of their whaling fleet entered EEZ waters and refused to leave. It has caused a bit of a political row. The Japanese whaling is against international law; they say it is for research. Bollocks! You don’t need 1,ooo whales each year for research, it’s commercial whaling in another guise. The Japanese are defying an international moratorium on whaling, and they should be brought to heel.

Damn, it’s so hot, the only sensible thing to do, is have another nap to escape the heat.

Fried Brains

brain_overload-300x2001Sometimes I feel like this ——>

But mine is less cluttered, because I don’t subscribe to much of the shit that’s available to fry your brains.

I LOL a lot, and sometimes OMG even though I am an atheist, an ingrained habit from my younger years.

Saw a post on WordPress this morning: Boring, Boring WordPress; and I have to agree, WP is as boring as shit. They say they have 20% of the blog market and I know why? They’re not interested in the you and me who don’t pay for their blogs. They’re slow, their blogging is cumbersome, their themes are boring beyond belief, and free blogs can’t use plug-ins; and many useful widgets are not permitted.

Blogspot on the other hand is free, interesting themes are manageable and easy to use, there are no limitations as to who can use what.

So why am I here on WordPress?

Simple the policies of Blogspot/Google are shit. Remember two years ago, I lost five years blogging and emailing without so much as a comment from them.

If WP wants to capture the market, they have to compete with Blogspot, and at this late stage of play, that’s not going to be easy. First thing they need to do is make it easier for free bloggers; until that happens, they’re pushing shit uphill with a rake.

justin-bieber-brothel-brazil-00-600x450Justin Bieber went down like a bad pill in Brazil. Sneaking out of a massage (read bonking) parlour covered in a sheet, vandalising some place with graffiti (he’s been charged with that) and walking off the stage earlier than scheduled because someone threw something at him. Hell, if he can’t stand criticism, get out of the game. Watch out Paraguay, here comes the spoiled brat of pop!

The rain hasn’t stopped since yesterday afternoon. Looks like another walk in the rain to get to work today.

Weinerschnitzel for lunch, yum, yum. I cut enough off the slab to do tomorrow as well. The rest is in the freezer should I feel the need for a BBQ on the weekend… foregone conclusion.

The Swiss team found traces of polonium on Arafat indicating possible poisoning; however the Russian team found nothing. Who do you believe?

Russian space launch with flame

Russian space launch with flame

Why would they send the Olympic flame to space? Are events planned there? Do they have astronauts competing in the games? So why? Waste of money and resources.

Okay, so it piggy backed with a crew change over, but I still ask why?

Japan is going to start the removal of the rods at Fukushima. Watch this space…

Must get ready for work. *looks out the window* Still raining, going to get wet.

Cooking a Healthy Lunch

Should look similar to this

Should look similar to this

Sole fillets (halibut) poached with potatoes in milk, olive oil and capers. To be served with a white parsley sauce…

I have posted four blogs, fur to go after this. Napped successfully, weird dream, but the nap was good.

Hot again today, the plants were gasping by 9am, so they got a healthy watering. Cloro helped by  trying to trip me up while carrying the bucket of water; not once, not twice, but thrice (wonderful forgotten word that). She was also content to lap at the puddles leaking from the plants.

Lunch is over.

Yummy, with a capital YUM!

There’s enough left over for supper.

My cellphone number is about to grow. We already have eight digits, from next week we have to add another ‘9’ to make it nine.

I see the UK has approved a new nuke power plant… fools!” Hasn’t Fukushima taught them anything? What’s worse, is the Chinese are going to build it. My question is, what does China want? Throwing all this money around, China is hardly a philanthropic organisation. What’s the crunch? I bet there is one, and when we know it, we won’t like it.

Interesting point on Japan today. The lowest birthrate in the world, Japan is now a country that sells more geriatric diapers than baby diapers. Not a record to be proud of.

Now it’s Frances turn to be indignant about the American’s spy programme. Notwithstanding that it turns out the British intelligence spying was passed without parliamentary approval or scrutiny, and parliamentarians are asking a big WHY? Demanding answers. Talk about a can of worms.

The answer to all of this is still a simple, all these spied on countries need to tell the Americans and associates to pack up their embassies and go home until they learn how to play nice. But then, have they ever?

Public executions are back. FB has allowed the return of beheading clips. That should satisfy the bloodthirsty.

In Rio today we have more demonstrations. The blonde bimbo has authorised the army to enter the fray to protect the auction of a major pre-salt oil field being held today.

Nice to see that the world is still on course for disaster.

Later.

Update

Breaking news: The American economy has surprised itself, productivity has doubled all over the country… raising hopes that the recovery has started.

Then they discovered that FaceBook was down globally.

God, I’m good!

I have almost finished blogging for the day, I have seen the best part of a thermos of coffee, I have napped with the help of the able bodied Cloro, I scared the hell out of the kitchen by doing the dishes (I can report that the bottom of the kitchen sink is still there) and I have cooked and eaten lunch.

Now, I am sitting here sweating. The day is muggy, not hot-hot, but hot enough to be seriously considering beer o’clock.

What a pratt!

What a pratt!

Yesterday, I googled beaver butt for a post on Eco-Crap, guess what I got… Stupid google sent me ‘bieber butt’. Somebody’s got their algorithms in a twist. I have absolutely no interest in Bieber, and even less in his butt.

I see JP Morgan got fined $92,000,000 for conveniently losing $8,000,000,000. Nobody was responsible, nobody went to jail. In my opinion along with the fine they should have had to make the $8bn reappear. Some wanker banker is laughing his privates off and is $8bn richer. Come on, $8bn just doesn’t disappear. It is shit like this that makes me wonder where our world is headed… and I don’t imagine it is a pretty place.

Cloro has decided that it’s fun to help daddy tie his boot laces. Doing up one’s boot laces with a kitten dangling on the end is no mean task. Today, I was on the phone talking to my bossette, and he decides to take the elevator straight up my legs, shorts and T-shirt. I caught him in one arm, and he just looks at me innocently like ‘cuddle-time?’. Here I am on the phone doing my best not to scare my bossette with a blood-curdling yell that one usually associates with such pain and he wants a cuddle.

I am beginning to think the human race is like the lemmings and their annual migration over the cliff to certain demise. Everybody is racing to Japan. A Kennedy daughter is about to become ambassador, Japan is still a top tourist destination, and the Olympic games are going to be there. I wouldn’t send a pox-ridden penis to Japan with the current radiation problems. And yesterday they had another earthquake in the region, not big enough nor close enough to do further damage, but I bet some Japanese sphincters were quivering.

News has started, time to migrate to the botequim and watch it there while I nurse my bloodily scratched legs.

Stating the Obvious

theobvious

The obvious

I could state the obvious and say it’s Sunday, but I will refrain from boring you.

I could also tell you that I am enjoying my umpteeth cup of wonderful Brazilian coffee, but once again that would be stating the obvious. Could you really imagine me at the keyboard without coffee? <——– Rhetorical question.

I could also tell you that Cloro is playing around in an empty box, but that would again be stating the obvious, that’s what cats do. BTW, it’s his first box.

I could also tell you that Brazil won yesterday’s football (soccer) match against Australia, 6-0, but that would yet again be stating the obvious…

Quite frankly, I have no idea why I am sitting here; everything I choose to write about is obvious.

WTF, they won?

WTF, they won?

I see Tokyo won the bid to host the Olympics in 2020. Nice, go watch the Olympics come home with your thyroid rotting from radiation. Japan is dead as far as I am concerned. You couldn’t drag me there with mules!

TEPCO, the lying bastards are still bloody lying two years after the event. The Japanese government finally figured that out (oh how these politicians think on their feet) and have stepped in, two years too late.

.

This week the sea is boiling around Fukushima

This week the sea is boiling around Fukushima

Tokyo is 240km (150 miles for those who can’t speak kilometerese). When it comes to radiation, that is nextdoor. I fully suspect that the northern part of Honshu (Tokyo is on the island of Honshu) will be another sad Chernobyl. By 2020 there won’t be a Tokyo.

The situation is so bad that nobody has the guts to tell the truth; not Tepco, not the Japanese government, not the USA about the dangers on the west coast.

Would you go to Japan?

Tomatoesripe

Home grown

The last of my tomatoes is now in the vege bin. There are still a few small ones to ripen. It will be a few weeks before the next lot are ready, and then a few weeks after them, another lot.

The local price has dropped from the R$10/kg to R$3 or 4, but I am not being held to ransom.

There’s only one way to beat inflation, that’s grow as much as you can.

This one-way trip to Mars, what do you think about it?

The Red Planet

The Red Planet

I have been thinking about it.

200,000 applied, do they know or suspect something that the rest of us do not?

Is it possible that the Martian travellers will breed? Will they be allowed to breed?

Are they to be the first colonists?

Are they the lucky ones to have escaped from this dying mud ball?

Are the rest of us doomed to die along with the planet Earth?

So many questions, so few answers.

This is the first post of the day, must blog along.

No Crash, No Bang!

frozen-fish-2The crashing and banging has stopped, no more broken plates.

I am at present thawing out my fish for lunch… and it is nearly 3pm. Looks like I’m having fish for dinner.

I watched the Brazil vs Mexico game yesterday afternoon, my student thoughtfully cancelled, wasn’t that nice.

I figure that Brazil’s star Neymar is beginning to suffer from old age at 21. The Japanese game last week he scored the first goal at 3 minutes, it took him 9 minutes against Mexico; he’s slowing up. He’ll be on a walking stick before he’s 25 at that rate.

I drank that Stout/Porter (last post) during the game, it’s nothing to write home about, tasted a bit like a caramel popsicle. I discovered that it is a Brazilian brew. When I was at the supermarket I didn’t have my glasses, couldn’t read the fine print. It’s brewed in Teresópolis… the mountain area of Rio de Janeiro state, so instead of having a fancy imported brew, it came from just up the road… massive let down.

I have come to the conclusion that Brazil doesn’t have a decent beer, it’s either lager or sweet black shit. Brazilians get most upset when I tell them their beer is for ladies and gaily overt homosexuals.

Late class tonight, that’s why I get a chance to write something ridiculous for you to read. Hating these split days, I seem to be perpetually tired. Tomorrow my morning student has cancelled, and no evening classes… Hey, I just realised I have a three-day weekend.

My friend Grace is opening her barzinho/restaurant thingy tomorrow. I’m going round to have lunch, taking a bottle of Italian fizzy Rosé with me to wet the baby’s head. Grace complained when I told her of my plan, can’t go drinking at work. I just told her start as you mean to carry on…. she just smiled. I’ll take the camera with me, so there may be a photo of the enterprise.

Now with apologies to the late Freddy Mercury…

Then, I saw this…
