Semantics

semanticscoffeecupThat’s how I feel some days. Not enough coffee.

My day started off okay, then it went MONDAY!

I got two posts done and realised that I had to go to town and get my ink cartridges refilled. Okay, did a quick change and put some pants on and off I went. Refilled cartridges in hand, I went across to the sushi shop, great, they had some short grain rice. I had to get three folders and a hole punch, got those and my tummy began to rumble… oh it’s 11:30. Lunch, and I was home by 1pm.

Dinky little thing, but the ink goes everywhere!

Dinky little thing, but the ink goes everywhere!

That was when I discovered the black ink cartridge had leaked, my hands were black. Fixed that. That’s when i discovered that the colour cartridge wouldn’t work.

Bugger! Nap-fu practise was called for.

The next hour was spent scanning and printing. I even screwed that up… more than once. Stupid things like printing the wrong page back-to-back.

I finally got it right.

By then it was time for work, 4pm. The day had gone. I don’t know where, it just went.

First thing my pupil asked. “What happened to your hands?” They were a bit of a mess.

So here I am at bedtime trying to keep my eyes open and using hunt ‘n punch typing techniques.

I see some conservative bishops at this Catholic conference thingy are calling the recommendations for relaxing things in relation to gays are calling it a betrayal. High time some of these doddery old bastards were put out to pasture, and let the world get on with it.

As I predicted, Israel is a little more than miffed that British MPs voted to follow Sweden in recognising the State of Palestine. Is Israel on the way to finding itself an outcast? When traditional supporters like Britain hop across the table, it would seem so. And after Israel’s recent brutal attacks, I’m not suprised.

For the last couple of years there has been a fear of radicalised Muslim schools in Britain. Several have been the subject of rigorous checking to see if they fit in with the overall British scheme of things, and they aren’t. Now, the Jewish conservative schools are jumping up and down because similar checks have been made on three of them, and found that they too were failing badly to prepare their pupils for modern British life. What’s good for the goose, is good for the gander.

Now I think I can safely go to bed.

Later.

Deleted – Defeated

I have been deleting video clips of my floor.

I tried, I truly did, to get a little film of Clorinha doing her mad dash through the room, under the chair, on to the box, on to the shelf, on to the other box, out of the window and on to the stove in the carport. But I failed. Each time I was left with the camera still pointing at an empty space on the floor and she was already outside.

I have been defeated by a small furry feline.

It’s the same when I try to get a video of Destructocat trying to demolish my passion fruit vines. I go to get the camera and when I get back she just sits there like a film star… looking pretty.

It’s Monday, my day has already been ruined.

I went to bed earlier than early last night. Early is between 9pm and 10pm; earlier than early, is before 9pm. I was woken twice by strange noises outside. Probably noises that I hear every night when the praça is alive and don’t even notice when I am awake, but they sound deadly when I am asleep. So I was up again just after 11, writing a post after having been inspiraficated in my sleep. Then I ran out of steam and went back to bed, hoping for more insprification. Instead, I went to sleep until the neighbour got his car out. Once he had gone, I died again. Now it is 10am and I am running late. I never did finish that post, I saved it and began my normal blogging routine. This is No. 3 this morning and all on one cup of coffee.

comments-iconA comment two posts back surprised me: “I try not to miss one episode of your TV drama life!”

To which I replied: “I have never considered my life as a TV drama, for me it’s far too mundane. But I thank you.”

Wow, my life is like a TV drama. I never thought of it that way before. I’ve always considered it just living, maybe a bit eclectically, maybe a touch of the exotic living here in Brazil, tinged with madness and the unexpected, along with a lot of coffee and weird tastes. I sit here each day surrounded by my wine and the conglomeration that I call home, posting and being attacked by a demented kitten, and somebody finds that exciting.

It’s nice to know that my efforts are not wasted.

I am a niche market.

I have an urge. I didn’t really have dinner last night. A fact that my stomach keeps reminding me of. I feel like hotdogs in a homemade tomato sauce on toast. By the time I finish this post, I’ll do it. Then, it’ll be lunch time and I can kill two birds with one stone.

The Pope has blamed the Syrian conflict on arms manufacturers. Indirectly, I guess he means the USA and Russia.

He also slid sneakily into the West Bank without going through Israel acknowledging that Palestine exists. I wonder if he can do the impossible and break the impasse between Palestine and Israel. While I am not a Catholic and think the Papacy should be dismantled, I like this Pope. He has done more for humanity than all previous popes put together.

American Congress is going to revisit gun control. Here we go again, barking up the wrong tree. Try looking at the root of the problem; mental health and the drugs pushed by BigPharma. Until you get to the root of the problem, you’ll have mass shootings like California this week.

I have run out of steam again.

Time for hotdogs.

Later.

A Fine Friday

Fine, because it’s not only the end of the week, but it is warm and the sun is out, although clouding a bit as I tap away here.

Fine because I have successfully made my first porn intimate close look at nature movie.

Fine because the Palestinians have won part of their fight.

Fine because I have just had a large pork chop and guava juice for lunch.

First, my movie…

A bezerra (big black bee) pollinating a passion fruit flower in my yard. These bees are necessary because of their size, as they are getting the nectar, the pollen brushes off on their backs, and hence taken to the next flower where their backs rub against the stamen and deposits the pollen.

The USA and Israel are not happy chappies, because it means that Israel has lost its ability to bully the Palestinians.

As for the cowardly 41 nations who abstained from the vote, well enough said.

Israeli and US spokesmen have declared that this is the wrong way, that only through negotiations can the Palestinians achieve their goal. Hell, they have been negotiating for 65 flammin’ years and nothing, but nothing has been achieved; in fact, the lot for the Palestinians has worsened. Now Israel is saying they will build more settlements on the West Bank( ie in Palestine), just who are the aggressors?

This is not my political blog, but personally I am pleased that they have succeeded.

It’s almost time for work, so later.

Today is Monday, no???

It feels like a Monday.

Not that anything has gone wrong yet, but we have just finished a six day holiday period.

Yesterday was Dia do Zumbi (Afro-Brazilian Awareness day or Zumbi’s Day). Zumbi dos Palmares (1655 – 1695) was one of the Quilombo (fugitive settlements) freedom fighters of the resistance against the Portuguese.

So we have a short week this week.

It’ll be the weekend again before we know it.

I have a good crop of passionfruit growing on the vines alongside the house. Last year they didn’t fruit, so I am quite pleased. There is also a pumpkin plant that has sprouted from the compost heap and spreading along the fence; it has already had flowers and promises a lot more.

I see the Pope has written a biography of Jesus, what can he say that hasn’t already been said? Things like this annoy me.

The Gaza conflict is worrying. Israel is defending its rights to retaliate to the Palestinian rockets. They conveniently forget that it was they that caused the rockets by the missile attack that killed the Palestinian military leader. The USA has proved to be the wimp once again in defending the Israeli’s right. I found out the other night a new side to the Palestine/Israeli conflict. I was always under the impression that it was only religiously related, but it appears that Palestinian territorial waters off Gaza have more gas and oil than Israel; that wouldn’t have anything to do with it, would it?

Then yesterday I read about ‘designer vaginas’ where women want custom made perfect vaginas. I posted on that on They Say it’s in the Genes.

Just more proof that the world is totally screwed.

I get so morose at times when I see the inconsequential things that worry the world. Things like Starbucks, the fashion world and big boobs, people truly are pathetic.
