A quarter to early

panicbuttonYes, that’s when I was up this morning.

Coffeed.

Most of my blogging done.

45 minutes until I hit the panic button, throw on some clothes, get nice and smelly and leave for class.

Bright outside, not sunny, not hot; but that could change. I hope not too drastically because I haven’t watered the plants yet.

Cat among the pigeons

Cat among the pigeons

Russia is threatening to sever the Russian internet from the rest of the world.

That’ll put the cat among the pigeons.

This Putin character is so paranoid, and so he should be; he started it.

I have finally figured out the days of the week…

Monday, Monday, Monday Monday, Friday, Saturday & pre-Monday. Please adjust your calendars accordingly.

While I was waiting for inspiration, I let my mind wander… and it didn’t come back!

I’ll go and check in the kitchen.

FOUND IT! It was right there by the coffeepot wainting for me.

Now that all the hooha over Scots independence is over, maybe we’ll get some real news. Like a drunk Australian repelled a crocodile attach by poking the beast in the eye. Or maybe, Prince William starts a solo visit to Malta… it would be more newsworthy if it was Prince George. Hell, he’s walking now, he should be taking on his share of the royal duties. Maybe they are waiting until he’s toilet trained; can’t have a royal shitting their pants in public, can we?

PgeorgepoopTime to get desmellified for class.

Later.

unBANG!

If ‘bang’ implies an explosion, then what implies the opposite, an implosion?

unBang, deBang, or have I disBanged?

At least I have found my question mark again.

Yes, a big heavy one of these, remember them?

Yes, a big heavy one of these, remember them?

When I left you yesterday morning, I was  waiting for techy-type to deliver my standby, but you know these techy-types, then you have to extrapolate that by adding in the Brazilian factor. The fact that he is only just around the corner, 150 yards, is inversely proportional and therefore exacerbates the problem.

In fact, he turned up about a half hour later, which was pretty much unexpected.

I procrastinated for the rest of the day, because to change over the monitor, I had to shut down the system blind. Yes, I hit the reset button, with all trepidation, because that’s what caused the trouble in the first place.

panfire

From the pan to the fire

The big question, was I jumping from the pan into the fire?

Of course, the old monitor had an old plug. Brazil has changed plug systems and my PC was of the newer plug type. Did I have a converter plug? I dived into my junk drawer, geez they are wonderful places, and surafced with a converter.

Untangling and unplugging, I replugged and retangled. First I hit the monitor button… lights!

Then I hit the PC button, camera, action!

But everything is so skinny, I’ll have to tamper with the resolution to normalise things.

So, I have disBanged.

No football yesterday, but there is today.

I’m not going to mention he whose name is associated with teeth. If you really want the latest piccy, try Bullshit Corner.

Brazil vs Chile… Chile has never beaten Brazil in this situation, so hopefully history repeats.

I have invested in a new T-shirt at the enormous cost of R$15, to encourage our team.

One of these little greeblies

One of these little greeblies

With no football yesterday, the highlight of the day was changing a carrapeta (tap washer) in the bathroom.

I do lead such an exciting life. I could have doubled the excitement and done the dishes, but I resisted the temptation.

I can’t wait to see what other forms of excitement I can come up with before the football.

Well, it didn’t take long to find something… while making coffee there was that unmistaken malodorous whiff in the air, yes, Clorinha had pooped under the sink again. It’s the first time this week; I though she was over it.

First coffee down, going for a second.

Then it’s off to pick up my T-shirt and return to blog along.

Later.

Emoji – 絵文字

Well, another day, and I learn something new.

Emoji (絵文字 are smileys 🙂

The day is wasted if I don’t learn something new. So I am happy before 9am.

No, this is a plumber's job

No, this is a plumber’s job

My happiness is due to a new Happiness Engineer.

Rachel, who visits this blog often, if not daily (well, the last three posts, she made it here twice) is now a Happiness Engineer, she landed a plum job.

Congratulations, Rachel, as I commented, dream jobs are hard to come by.

Now all she has to do is explain what a Happiness Engineer does, then I will have learned two new things today.

tgif-cat21TGIF! note exclamation mark magically uplifting the tone of my text

TGIF! also magically uplifts one ready for the weekend.

Right now, I need a TGIF coffee.

*heads off to the kitchen*

Got coffee, makes TGIF even better.

Paid the power and ISP bills yesterday, so as long as PC keeps within its vocational boundaries, I’ll be around for the next month.

Mind you, I have to pay the rent yet, but that’s not due until the 15th, after that I might have power and net, but using it from the street. AV = another vagabond.

steak-and-kidney-pie

Mine won’t have the frilly bits

Supermarket again today, the one I went to Wednesday didn’t have agua com gas (sparkling mineral water), and the one I plan to go to today is the only one of four supermarkets that has kidneys. I am planning meal-sized steak ‘n kidney pies for the freezer, oh nom noms.

Two of my last three posts have won/got 15 likes. I’ve never broken that barrier. Come on people, you can do better than that.

I read an article this morning on the Malvinas/Falklands issue. Can’t find it now… but it called the Falklands Malvinas stating that the Malvinas were known in Britain as Falklands. I take issue with that, They are known as the Falklands worldwide, only in Argentina and some Spanish speaking supporters are they known as Malvinas. Come on MSM, get your shit together and get the facts right.

2014-Brazil-World-Cup-theme-wallpaper-downloads-1366x768-01Six days to go! The FIFA World Cup kicks off on the 12th. Who is going to win it? Can Brazil make it to Hexa-Campeão (sixth world champion)?

Of course, I am rooting for Brazil. I live here, and NZ was knocked out by Mexico.

Many are hoping for another Spanish win, and there are several other teams that could well make it.

But the political storm here needs a win to pour oil on troubled waters. There are many here in Brazil that are not happy with the cup being held here, and are demanding education, health and public security have the same money spent on them. They are demanding, for example, hospitals of the same standard as the arenas (stadiums).

FIFA is beset with more corruption accusations. It’s time for FIFA to be frozen out and for the world to support a different/new governing body without Seth Blatter and all his cronies. They’ve had their day and screwed up.

Bashar al-Bastard has won a one-sided election and is president of Syria for another seven years. Of course, the elections didn’t include rebel areas, just those that guaranteed the required result.

I wonder whether elections shouldn’t be run by a third party, a neutral country and not by the incumbent government. Maybe in that way countries might get a fairer deal. I haven’t heard of an election in the last forty years that hasn’t been marred by corruption of one sort or another.

I do feel a nap coming on…

But first, I have to clean up Kitty poo under the sink again; discovered when I got my coffee.

Later.

Clorinha likes to watch TV.

If she keeps pooping under the sink, I'll turn the TV off

Not as planned

only-reason-i-have-a-kitchenMy lunch yesterday didn’t go as planned, it didn’t even become dinner. In fact, it just didn’t!

I mentioned that I was late in taking the fish out of the freezer, well, with the cooler weather we had yesterday and, I might add, today, it didn’t defrost.

So by 5pm, my stomach was grumbling seriously.

I had some ready-made pastel pastry in the fridge, make pasteis, I thought. Wasn’t a good idea. The filling, despite being in the fridge for two days didn’t taste right. Out they went with the remainder of the filling. Cheese, that’s a good backup filling. Got distracted and burnt them. Not quite to a crisp, but a lot darker than they should have been.

Bugger!

I ate them anyway, I was hungry.

It’s now 11am, and my stomach is feeling neglected.

The fish has thawed in the fridge overnight, so I’ll try, try again.

Things don’t always go as planned.

Rained again last night, and the dark clouds say that it will again today. My first student has cancelled, I just have a group at 6pm.

The kitchen is in shock… I did the dishes. Highlight of the day so far.

Clorinha has just bounced in the window, one leap on to the bed, and instantly collapsed into a deep sleep as only cats can do.

She has regressed. Pooped twice in the shower yesterday, and today I caught her under the kitchen sink about to do the same. I hauled her out by the tail and dumped her with less than no ceremony in the dirt box. It was then I discovered that it wasn’t the only poop under the sink.

I have better things to do with my life than cleaning up poop after a kitty. Her dirt box is clean, I changed the sand yesterday. I have to figure out what’s going on in that little feline brain.

This tickled my fancy the other day.

Meanwhile, back to the kitchen.
