My Voices are Quiet

Blank Mind

Blank Mind

Which has left me at a loss for a post.

It’s true, my mind is a blank.

I’m sure the neurons are firing, like I remember where the fridge is.

But I am sitting here forsaken by my voices, devoid of conscious thought, bereft of ideas.

Yes, maybe I need coffee…

CoffeeistheanswerIn coffee there is inspiration, hope and destiny.

Now we’re on the right track, the answer can be found nowhere else.

I have posted on all blogs today, this is the last.

I have napped successfully twice and halfheartedly once; hence the third attempt.

I did the dishes, the kitchen is still in mourning.

The one nice thing about the bruschetta that I bought is that it came in a dinky square jar.

Now I have a dinky square jar and absolutely no idea what to do with it.

Camera Bowels

Camera Bowels

I emptied the bowels of my camera.

It’s amazing the crap (hence I call it the bowels) you find there, that you’ve forgotten about.

Good photos, bad photos, furry photos and photos that leave you wondering what on earth were you thinking about when you took them.

It all comes out of the bowels.

Yes, I have an 8gb card. That way the battery runs out before the card, necessary when you have a 7-year-old daughter visit and the eventual “Can I use the camera?”

Yesterday was a relaxing day. No football, no classes and a single bottle of beer in the chilly evening before collapsing on the sofa with exhaustion to watch the evening news.

My view of the world cup was much like this:

How I viewed the World Cup

How I viewed the World Cup

Big screen at the rear of the botequim between to heads, one usually had a silly hat.

I made weinerschnitzel for lunch the other day. Here’s how I do it.

Rump steak and small kitchen knife

Rump steak and small kitchen knife

This is my favourite knife, it’s not fancy just R$7, made of plain steel, hence the rust spots, but it is sharp and holds its edge better than its R$40 counterparts.

It cuts beautiful steaks.

And before the end steak gets too thin, slice it in two for two BBQ steaks now in the freezer waiting for the next BBQ.

My lunch after the ceremonial butchering and crumbing.

Boiled potatoes with oodles of pepper and a knob of butter, cauliflower with Provolone cheese sauce.

Is it any wonder that my kitchen sink is always full of dishes?

So there you have a glimpse of what was in the bowels of my camera. There was more, but more for my Eco-Crap blog updates tomorrow than here.

First student cancelled. So now there is no need to panic and get to work in the 20 minutes left. Next class at 6pm.

Here you have an example of a blog post written off the cuff with out a conscious thought and some coffee.

Later.

I wish to announce

VdeLobos

Red wine that didn’t get steaked

Today yesterday was Saturday.

My next question is…

Where the hell did it go?

I woke early, I blogged and then I napped.

When I woke again it was noon+30. What a good hour to have breakfast.

So, I lit the BBQ… That thing is going to become dangerous, if it hasn’t already.

I cut the rump steak into generous pieces and salted it then splashed red wine over it, I salted the tocino (strips of pork belly) and sprinkled curry over it.

It was about then that Saturday disappeared.

Later.

Pee Free

acatpee

Not Cloro, but a great idea

Note, that’s pee free, not free pee!

I wish I’d seen that photo before I threw the old toilet seat out after finally changing it.

Yes, more than two weeks since we have had pee in the wrong place.

Cloro is doing well.

Next stage is to move dirt box outside and see how he goes.

I saw an interesting video today. A cat trying to con its owner with boomps (head butts) that it was dinner time. The result was that the owner told the cat it was still three hours away.

This is where Cloro sits while I am blogging

This set me to wondering. Cloro has food all day, it’s there when he wants it. This idea of a cat has mealtimes, seems strange. Mother Nature didn’t control them; “Sorry you can’t catch that mouse, it’s not dinner time!” Just imagine it.

Today, I finally did it. Yes, I caught a quick glimpse of the bottom of the kitchen sink. I even scrubbed it. But the glimpse was a brief one, then I cooked lunch, and guess what?

Lunch was good, mashed potatoes with a pool of butter on top, a liberal sprinkling of white pepper, accompanied by two thin pieces of dry seared rump steak, salted with rock salt, and olive oil dribbled over at the end. I ate this with a bottle of iced Chateau Guandú (chilled tap water, search on this blog to find the full story).

I see that Fukushima has had another little accident, more radioactive water spilled.

The USA is still closed for business.

I wonder what’s going to happen on the 17th of this month with the debt ceiling? That could be the straw that breaks the proverbial camel’s back with the global economy going into a downward spiral.

I shudder to think of the ramifications.

Once again…

…it appears that I have abandoned the world.

But it’s an illusion. I’m still here.

I plead temporary insanity.

The world has been full of doom and gloom this week, the Japanese Tepco company has been accused of disguising radiation readouts, G4S has made a thorough balls up of the Olympic security, Mitt Romney and his wife seem determined to remove themselves from the race (actually, that is good news), then of course there’s the shooting in Colorado by some deranged gunman, tragic, but I point out that while one deranged gunman went on a rampage, millions of others didn’t; so the issue is not guns, it’s people.

While all that has been happening, here on the home front, not much. Last two days have been sunny, not hot, but it has been a pleasant respite from the previous month of unrelenting cold.

Lunch today was a wonderful piece of rump steak seared on both sides after marinating in garlic, rock salt and soya sauce, then topped with molten blue vein cheese on top.

an hour later

Well, there was more, but I lost control of my mouse and lost the lot. Thank heavens for autosave. I am not disposed to try an recreate it.
